Opened in 1845, initially linking to Bishopsgate station in London via Bishops Stortford was Cambridge railway station in Cambridgeshire. Cambridge South near Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridgeshire, a third railway station has been proposed.

First played on Parker's Piece and had a "defining influence on the 1863 Football Association rules" which were again first played on Parker's Piece were the Cambridge Rules from Cambridgeshire. The St Bene't's Church, is situated next to Corpus Christi College.
